Carlyn Janus is a Chicago born artist and recent transplant to Brooklyn, NYC, specializing in acrylic and mixed media painting on canvas and paper. Her work is mainly abstract natural forms and scenes inspired by nature. Mixing the organic elements of urban, inland and coastal environments into surreal, dream-like textures and layers. This interpretation of nature is referred to as a “Dreamscape”. It is not a tangible setting or a recognizable place, but more of a feeling or distant memory that is translated into an abstract landscape that is interpreted differently by each viewer.
A graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Carlyn Janus has been working professionally within many art fields, including fine art restoration, graphic design, interior desing and film, for over 17 years. She has continued her career in the arts in 2012 by becoming a professional fine art painter.
